Hawaii has always been at the top of my list for a holiday and yes it is all that it's cracked up to be and more!
Between the crystal clear beaches, thirty-degree heat, incredible food and shopping- Hawaii really has it all.

I thought I would share a few of my favourite places to eat, play, shop and also give you guys some general information about my trip incase you would like to do a getaway and need some tips!

Honolulu- Outrigger on the Beach

First stop was Honolulu where I stayed at the ‘Outrigger on The Beach’. This resort had been recommended to me by a few people and I have to agree it was the absolute perfect spot. Located at the shore of Waikiki beach, five minutes from the shops and a short walking distance to restaurants.
My suite located on the top floor had an incredible view. For couples, I recommend staying here! The photos on the website do not do the resort justice.
The resort is located on top of Dukes restaurant where I ate breakfast most mornings. I highly recommend the Vegetarian or Spanish omelet.
The service is great and you really get what you pay for staying here.

Kauai- Marriott Hotel

Next stop was Kauai which is only a forty minute plane ride from Honolulu. If you haven’t heard of the island before, it is where Jurassic Park was filmed and it is beautiful!
I stayed at the Marriot Hotel and absolutely loved it. The hotel is conveniently close to the airport however don’t worry about the noise, I never heard a single plane! The hotel rooms are the perfect mix of comfort and luxury and the service was outstanding. If you like cocktails, make sure you try their Pina Colada’s and Mai Tai’s, they are delicious!
Kauai is a lot more relaxed than Waikiki so there isn’t much of a nightlife but Kauai has many fun activities to keep you busy during the day. It is also the perfect island to visit if you want to relax by the ocean or pool, soaking up the sun, with a cocktail in hand.

North Shore- Turtle Bay

After four days in Kauai, I flew back to Honalulu, hired a car and drove for an hour to Oahu’s North Shore.
If you have seen the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall- this is the same hotel from that movie!
Heading to North Shore is the perfect way to end your trip! Between Turtle Bay Beach and Haleiwa Beach Park you will have plenty of time to soak up some sun. Make sure your phone is charged for the sunset around 7pm - it was incredible.

Orchids - Halekulani Hotel
Orchids was the first restaurant I dined at with friends in Hawaii. The coastal Italian cuisine was the perfect way to start the trip. I opted for the Mai Tai and if you like a strong cocktail, it is like rocket fuel! This is a little pricey but for a nice night out the expense is worth it. I highly recommend you have a try!

Just like the Bills in Sydney, the food here never disappoints. I tried the beef burger with chips and it really hit the spot.  If you are a total coffee addict like me then make sure you get your fix at Bills! Best coffee in Waikiki.

Dukes is located on the ground level of the Outrigger so breakfast was a very easy choice. The buffet is delish but the omelets are superb! You must try the Spanish or vegetarian option.

Cheesecake Factory

I think most people have heard of the cheesecake factory! I found it difficult to find a healthy salad in Hawaii but I opted for a guacamole salad and it was huge but exactly what I was after.

Moana Hotel
Head to the Moana hotel to watch the sunset at the bar with your choice of cocktail in hand. My choice was the creamy coconut pinna colda. Not my usual drink but they were incredible. The chicken wings will go down a treat as well!

Ocean House
This was definitely a favourite restaurant of mine on the trip. Between the incredible food, wine, view and service- you cannot go wrong. Make sure you try the seafood dynamite for an entree and the parmesan crusted opah for a main. I don’t always get dessert but you have to try the home-style croissant bread pudding - AMAZING.

If you love a steak then you have to dine at Stripsteak. Hands down one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. We shared the kens sushi roll for an entrée and the t-bone steak for a main.
Loved it!

Dukes in Kauai is part of the same franchise as the Dukes Honolulu but it has a different menu.  Make sure you try their chicken wings with peri peri sauce. Great option for a snack.
Café Portifino
This cafe is walking distance from the Marriott Hotel so we dined here on a few occasions. As Italian is one of my favourite foods, I had to try a pasta! The fettuccine shrimp & mushrooms was really good. My favourite dish however was the rack of lamb which was absolutely mouth watering and definitely worth a try.

Beach House
This beachfront restaurant offers striking views of the sunset and a range of fresh seafood, meets and vegies.  I ordered the grilled Hawaiian Catch and it was divine. My tip would be to not order too many entrees, the meals are really big!

 Ala Moana Center
For those of you who love shopping, you have to check out the Ala Moana Center. It is enormous and has a wide range for both men and women. Zara is always my go to and it’s great in Hawaii as well. The exchange rate didn’t help us much however you can find a good price on designer items.

Kalaaua Avenue
Kalakaua Avenue is also a great spot for some retail therapy.  The variety of shops on Kalakaua is extensive, from high-end designer boutiques to authentic Hawaiian apparel and souvenirs, as well as popular global retailers like Apple.
For those of you who like your designer brands this place is for you!

If you have never surfed before Waikiki beach is a great place to learn!

 Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay
Hanauma Bay is an absolute MUST while staying in Hawaii. I have never been snorkeling before and was a little unsure at first but so happy I tried it. The Bay is all enclosed so I felt really safe and the marine life that you see is incredible!  If you have a Go-Pro, make sure you bring it or you can also purchase a cover for your phone to use underwater!

Diamond Head Hike
I didn’t get a chance to do this hike but have heard it is amazing! Must see while in Hawaii and I will definitely be giving it a try on my next trip!

My pick of the must-do activities during your stay in Kauai include a
helicopter ride, horseback riding through the set of Jurassic Park and hiking along the picturesque trails such as the Sleeping Giant Trail or the Hanalei Valley Lookout.

Wailua River State Park

While staying in Kauai, check out the 83 foot waterfall. Wailua Falls is used for many films and is a beautiful location to check out while in Kaui.

Golf- Hokualakauai Ocean Course
I wouldn’t say I play golf regularly but for those of you who do, make sure you book in day at the Hokualu golf course.

North Shore- Turtle Bay
For all you golf loving fans out there, make sure you book in a game of golf at the prominent Turtle Bay Palmer Golf Course. The course has hosted Champions Tour and LPGA events as well as the Golf Channel’s Big Break. I have to say, I certainly loved the carts that wander  around the course offering food and beverages throughout the day!

Horse riding
I had arranged horse riding on the beach for our final day however due to bad weather (trust) that afternoon, it was cancelled. I have heard it is amazing so make sure you check that out!
