Beautiful and youthful skin is what we all want but due to many factors, it isn't always the case for everyone. Over the past few months I have received skin treatments from Evolution Skin Clinic located at Randwick. They also put me on a new skin routine and I am so excited to share my journey with you guys.

Over the years, like most people, I have spent a lot of money on expensive skin care products and noticed very little improvement.

Before going away on holidays in May, I noticed my skin was quite dry and dull, on top of this I was starting to get regular breakouts. I also noticed redness around my cheeks. I was trying all different types of skin care, receiving overly priced facials but nothing seemed to be working for me.

A friend of mine, Clarissa Mott the senior skin therapist at Evolution Laser Randwick, suggested I visit her clinic to improve my current skin situation.
The main area that I wanted to focus on was to rehydrate my skin and get that glow back. I also wanted to focus on starting a new skin routine that would work for me.

The first consultation included chatting about what I wanted to benefit from my treatments. My aim was to rehydrate my skin, minimize redness and breakouts and get back that glowing skin.

My skin was also very sensitive so I didn’t want anything too heavy that would clog my pores. During this chat, Clarissa explained to me how our skin works and the importance of home care when doing in clinic treatments. She also explained why the below treatments were suitable for my skin in order to get the results that I was after.

1. Microdermabrasion

The first treatment included microdermabrasion which involves a deep exfoliation using a diamond tip applicator to gently polish the skin using suction to remove dead cells and stimulate blood flow to the skin. Microdermabrasion also speeds up cell turn over, eliminates toxins and improves dull or oily skin.

This treatment is pain free, there is no down time after you finish and take about 20 minutes which is perfect for people who want to go during work hours.

2.  LED Yellow Light Therapy – Healite ll

The LED Yellow Light Therapy was my favourite treatment. If you are looking for glowing skin, this is a MUST try treatment!

The LED yellow light therapy is non-invasive and pain free treatment. The benefits include: increased skin collagen production, speeds up healing process, tightens and tones, eliminates toxins, reduces redness and rosacea, increases blood flow and much more. The results are amazing directly after any other treatment to enhance what you are trying to achieve.
Below is a bit more information about this incredible treatment and what it will do for your skin.

"The pain free and non-invasive treatment delivers concentrated energy deep into your tissue affecting your body at a cellular level. The deep penetrating LED lights are soothing, they target deep into the skin cells to heighten their internal functions, photo-stimulate dermal blood flow and induce faster healing, decrease pain, reduce acne and more."

Boys and girls who are struggling with sensitive skin, pimples and rosacea, you must try this treatment!

3. Vitamin Infusion
The last skin treatment was a Vitamin Infusion, with a mixture of active botanical blends personalized to help address skin concerns. Clarissa left this on for about thirty minutes and it left my skin feeling so supple and fresh.

1. Glow Peel

The first treatment was a glow peel. This treatment is a non-invasive, rejuvenating and clarifying treatment. The treatment combines fast acting enzymes and a gentle dose of AHA and 17% lactic acid to help congested pores and fade discoloration.

The glow peel is suitable for any skin types and can be performed every two weeks, which will give you that fresher and more youthful skin we all want.

1. Laser Rejuvenation-1064nm q-switch laser –revilte.

The photo acoustic laser stimulates collagen, improving your skins texture and assist with eliminating fine lines. It also minimizes pores, breaks down and lightens pigmentation and controls breakouts. It is great for all skin types and recommended for every 2-4 weeks.

If you have had laser hair removal before you will be familiar with the feeling. I personally have a low threshold for pain but for me the laser treatment was not particularly painful but was a little uncomfortable around sensitive areas.

1. Hydrodermabrasion

This was my fourth skin treatment and by now my skin was feeling the best it ever has. For my last treatment I tried the Hydrodermabrasion and honestly felt amazing! It is very similar to the very first treatment I had done, microdermabrasion, but with the added benefits. The hydrodermabrasion has a hyaluronic infused fluid passing through the diamond tip applicator that cleanses and hydrates the skin as well as removing dead skin build up.

The other benefits include evening out congested, blemished, dull and discoloured skin. An increase blood circulation and improves collagen stimulation. This treatment left my skin feeling amazing!

At the end of my in-clinic skin treatments, Clarissa recommended I implement a daily skin routine suited to my skin type to maintain my skin rejuvenation. The routine we agreed on is called ‘Evolve Skincare’ and includes four easy steps to follow morning and night at home. Depending on your skin type, the girls at Evolution Laser will match your skin to a routine that best suits you.

Step.1 - In the morning I start my day with a fresh Hydro cleanse. This gently removes toxins, whilst soothing irritated skin leaving it feeling super clean. I tend to use this in the shower, using 1-2 pumps with water, cleanse then rinse off. This is to be used morning and night.

Step.2 - I was originally using Age Defence but noticed this was not suitable for my skin type so Clarissa swapped me to Acne Defence. This is recommended for oily, acne and prone to breakout skin types. It is a Vitamin A+B serum with antibacterials and anti-inflammatories. It is a yellow serum that clears and calms infection, inflammation and normalizes oil flow. I apply1-2 pumps to clean skin both morning and night.

Step. 3- I finish off with the Hydrate moisturizer. This is one of my favorite products! It is for sensitive and irritated skin like mine. The benefits of this moisturizer include: superior hydration, optimal moisture levels, improves barrier function, reduce redness, cell protection and restore luminous skin. I apply this morning and night.

Step.4 - I then use an Exfoliating AHA serum 1-3 times per week. The serum is used to exfoliate and clear blocked pores and remove dead skin cells. It also helps accelerate cellular renewal and aid skin imbalances.

I use this serum like a facemask 1-3 times a week after cleansing and it leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Evolution Laser Randwick. Before my consultation with Clarissa, my skin felt dry, irritated, and left me feeling somewhat self-conscious without covering blemishes.

Now my skin feels hydrated, smooth and the redness has completely diminished around my cheeks. I also noticed that I rarely get pimples anymore.
Through a combination of skin treatments and my day-to-day skin routine recommended by Clarissa, I am extremely happy with my results. It is so important to look after your skin (it’s the largest living organ in your body!) I am so thrilled I have finally found a routine that works for me. I am now happy to step out of the house makeup free!

Over the past few years I have loved teaming up with bling king ‘Nicholas Haywood’ and have worn some of his beautiful pieces to Spring Racing carnivals and other professional events. Nick Haywood is a huge racing enthusiast who travels the world to view some of the best jockeys and horses battle it out and no surprises that he and my brother in law Zac Purton have become fast friends.

Just in time for the Spring Carnival, I teamed up with Nicholas Haywood for a racing inspired shoot to showcase his new Sport Luxe Collection. Both Nick and his beautiful wife Asha understand the glamour side of the racing industry and have captured this perfectly in the Sport Luxe spring collection.

I was thrilled when I found out that the location of the shoot was going to be at the stables of the Queen of the turf ‘Gai Waterhouse’ at Tulloch Lodge! On the day of the shoot, I got to work with some amazing people including the gorgeous Asha Haywood who coordinated the whole shoot and made the experience really fun. I was also very lucky to work with clothing and hair stylist Sarah Smith (Willo Smith Styling) and photographer Caroline McCredie. Both Sarah and Caroline were so lovely to work with and extremely talented in both their fields.

I fell in love with the entire collection but my absolute favourite would have to be the Diamond Angle earrings. INCREDIBLE!

Below are just a few of the shots from the day by the amazingly talented Caroline McCredie. Don’t forget to sign up to Nick Haywood’s mailing list to receive the latest NHJC diamond jewels!

Every now and then we all deserve to treat ourselves and do something that is not only relaxing but good for our physical and mental health.

Recently the Wildfire Wellness infrared sauna opened up near me and I was interested in finding out what exactly an infrared sauna is and why they are beneficial for your health.

I knew a little bit about traditional saunas but not specifically infrared so I decided to try it out for myself. After speaking to co-owners and sisters, Caitlin and Larissa Stores, they filled me in on how amazing these saunas actually are for the body.

For those of you like me who know little or nothing about what an infrared sauna is; here is some info from the Stores sisters that might clear a few things up.

"Infrared is invisible light felt as warmth. It is incredibly safe and healing, and is the warmth used in humidicribs for premature babies. The infrared rays penetrate the body deeply to produce an incredibly detoxifying sweat (7x more than a traditional sauna). With over 80,000 chemicals and toxins in our environment, detoxification is becoming increasingly important and sweating is one of the body's most natural ways to eliminate toxins.  Infrared sauna therapy can help to detoxify from heavy metals such as mercury & lead as well as environmental chemicals & pollutants."

Like anything, you always want to do your research before trying something new that affects your health. I was overwhelmed by the amount of benefits an infrared sauna has on the body such as detoxification, relaxation, anti-aging, pain relief, sports recovery, skin purification, improved circulation & weight loss. Something I was really impressed with was that studies show a thirty-minute infrared sauna session can burn up to 600 calories!

The psychological benefits are also amazing as infrared sauna therapy lowers cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and boosts serotonin and dopamine levels (feel good hormones) making it great for stress relief & relaxation.

I first tried the Wildfire Wellness infrared sauna with a friend of mine, the second we walked in we felt like we entered a calming sanctuary. Through a combination of aroma and essential oils that the staff diffuse throughout the day, you instantly feel relaxed upon entering the wellness centre.

For those of you like me who occasionally work from home, the wellness centre provides a blissful room out the back where you can help yourself to a cup of tea or a glass of water where you can work in peace and quiet. They offer free Wi-Fi and anyone is welcome to use post sauna or treatment. There are also a variety of books and magazines to browse and a dedicated stretch space with foam rollers, trigger point balls and exercise bands to use before or after your session.

Wildfire Wellness also sell and support local designers including Billie Mae The Label, Rachel Disalvo, Salty Swimwear, Fauve Hughes and Amaleia Jewellery. They stock a range of Australian natural and organic beauty products including Mullum & Co, Salt + Glow, Inika Organics, Hanako Therapies and Theseeke, along with magnesium oil from The Base Collective. You can also find earth-friendly, biodegradable yoga mats, gratitude journals, a variety of beautiful crystals and the amazing Shakti acupressure mat. They also sell delicious treats from The Clean Treats Factory and Jiva Kombucha.

In the past, I have used traditional saunas after a gym session and lasted approximately about ten minutes due to the overbearing heat. Not to mention the anxiety of being trapped in a sauna which, has scared me for years! The best thing about Wildfire Wellness infrared sauna is that their saunas are all open and glass so you dont get that trapped feeling, infrared is also a dry heat which prevents the stuffy feeling of a traditional steam sauna.

Depending on whether you want to relax by yourself for some alone time or take a boyfriend or friend. Wildfire Wellness have three sauna’s available. Two sauna’s accomodate two people and one sauna accomodates three people.

First you can choose the coloured light that you would like to use as they all work on different areas of the body. I chose to keep mine on rotation so I got a mix of everything.

Chromotherapy works on various energy points to help balance your body via the full spectrum of visible light, each colour addresses a different need for example, orange is great for mental stimulation and producing happy emotions and blue promotes relaxation and calm. You can change the colour whenever you like throughout the session, or leave it on an automatic chakra cleanse which slowly flicks through each colour.
You can also take your phone into the sauna to plug into the speakers and listen to music and is great way to relax and unwind.

The sessions run for 40 minutes with a temperature around 57 degrees celsius so that you receive all the benefits of infrared therapy whilst remaining comfortable and relaxed.
I found the first fifteen minutes pretty easy and then I started to really heat up and needed some water to cool off. They do recommend drinking water before, during and after the session which, they provide for you and you can also help yourself to a pinch of pink Himalayan salt to add to your water at the front desk, this helps to replace any minerals that you’ve lost through sweating.

After the session, I felt amazing. I was so relaxed I ended up making a quick dinner and going straight to bed. I chose to do a 7pm session and I honestly had the best sleep and woke up feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

The costs include $40 per 40 min session, and you can bring a friend for an extra $15 and share the cost! New client special 3 saunas for $90.
Check out the infrared sauna for yourself and take some time out to relax and unwind.

1. Bring a full-sized towel to sit on and a smaller towel to wipe off with while you sweat, the girls provide a cold towel to freshen up at the end of your session.

2. Wear a bikini or swimming costume to your session, something that you don’t mind getting sweaty in!

3. Wear loose fitting clothes so that after the sauna you are comfortable and not trying to squeeze back into jeans or gym tights!

4. Bring a good book or download a podcast or meditation so that you really make the most out of your quiet time and don’t just resort to watching Netflix or scrolling mindlessly through your phone.

5. Drink plenty of water before, during and after, there is coconut water for purchase at the front desk which is always good to assist with rehydration.

6. Not recommended to wear any oils or moisturiser as, not only do they ruin the delicate cedarwood, your skin is your largest organ and you definitely do not want anything artificial on your skin throughout the sauna process.

7. I love going to the infrared sauna around 7pm. After your sauna session, trust me, you will never have a better sleep!
